We have a new Softly Serious Boot!

Our third ever Soflty is black, made with very special Badalassi napa. 

And it has a tan welt, for a little more... distinction? Weltyness?

A Softly Serious has the same lofty stature as our other Seriouses, but is more comfortable from the off, thanks to a super light Vibram Morflex sole and a flexible 3mm leather midsole.

It means little-to-no breaking-in required and a surprising feeling of cloudy bounce for such a proper Goodyear welted construction. One of our team describes that she kind of "rolls" in hers (in a good way) from heel to toe. 

Goodyear is probably THE highest quality construction technique in shoemaking, allowing for a secure bond between sole and upper and ease of sole replacement when it eventually wears down (and we understand that replacing this Morflex sole is quite a familiar practice to most good cobblers, not least because Red Wings have worked with the same sole for years). 

This "Black Badalassi" is a vegetable-tanned napa from Tuscany, made using an 800 year old traditional method. We've not used this particular leather before, but we know it's soft - much more tumbled that most veg tan leather - and we look forward to seeing how that softness up top works with the softness down below. 

The leather is a natural mix of subtle grain and smooth. That variance can happen within the same pair, the same way it occurs in the same skin. But we have tried our best to keep most pairs uniform - either smoother, or grainer. And all lovely.
