SHIPPING, RETURNS + REFUNDS
International Shipping via DHL + Domestic Shipping Services
We ship our shoes to all countries in the world, using a combination of DHL and international domestic postal services.
The cost of shipping will be listed on the checkout page before you complete your purchase, and generally we seek to offer the most cost effective shipping possible to the country you are ordering from.
We aim to get all shipments on the road within 3 days of your order and you will be provided with a DHL Tracking number. The following is a rough guide to how long your shipment will take to reach you, once it has been picked up by DHL. But please note that the duration can vary significantly, not least in the wake of the pandemic.
Germany 2-3 days
Rest of Europe 5-7 days
UK 7 to 14 days, but please note that the UK customs process is evolving and timing fluctuates a lot. Parcelforce / UK Customs will write to you requesting payment of VAT before you are able to receive your package. Please see the section on Brexit in our FAQs.
USA 10 to 21 days (but we have seen an increase in delays as USPS, who are responsible for the final leg of the journey, have their resources reduced). US customers, however, will not be charged customs unless they spend more than $800.
Canada 10 to 21 days and please be warned that Canadian Customs more often than not will charge import duties and sales tax on imports from Europe, including our shoes.
Australia & NZ 10 to 21 days. Shipping times seem reasonably consistent and customs is sometimes charged, but not always.
Rest of World 10 to 21 days. Shipping times and likelihood of customs charges vary substantially from one country to the next, but please feel free to email us and ask for an assessment of how long shipments usually take to your country (atheist.shoes.berlin(at)gmail.com).
International Returns Policy
We hope that you will be happy with your purchase, but if not, or if the product we deliver is not what you ordered or is defective or damaged, please let us know at atheist.shoes.berlin(at)gmail.com as soon as possible and we will provide a refund or replacement in accordance with our Returns Policy.
We are happy to refund any purchases within 14 working days of receipt. To return your shoes, you must contact our customer services at atheist.shoes.berlin(at)gmail.com so that we can give you instructions on where and how to send them.
We will refund any sums that you have paid to us, with the exception of any postage costs we incurred in sending the shoes to you (usually 7 to 20 euros in EU, 35-45 euros in ROW). Only products that are in their original condition will be refunded, others will be returned to customers at their own cost.
No Free Shipping for Returned Items / We split the cost of exchange shipping
We would like to be able to offer free postage on the return of any items from locations within the EU, however we are not yet in a position to do so, partly because we are a fledgling operation and very much hope that we'll have enough money to still be operational 12 months from now.
We're still too small a business to offer totally free worldwide shipping on returns. BUT we do want to help as much as we can and, so, if you get your shoes and decide you'd like to exchange them for another size or colour, we'll split the costs of making that exchange happen. You cover the cost of shipping the original shoes back to us, then we'll pay the cost of shipping replacement shoes to you in return. We'll do this only for your first exchange, lest anyone get into a spiral of exchanging shoes and bankrupt us (and probably themselves).
Incorrect Order
Every so often mistakes will happen, but we will do our best to fix them and correct any issues you may have. If you have noticed that we have made a mistake with your order, please email us at atheist.shoes.berlin(at)gmail.com, and we will look into it. Please include your order reference at all times when e-mailing our customer services.
