More than several of you have asked for a SHOE version of DAS SCHWARZE BOOT... so we've made one!

Matt, durable, water-proof and timeless, DER SCHWARZE SCHUH is handmade from waxed, bull leather, tanned in the West of Germany.

Not too shiny, not too matt, it's an elegant wardrobe staple; a willing everyday companion; a black labrador of shoes.

Compared to our other shoes, it takes a couple of wears to break in - testimony to the seriousness of the leather involved - but it quickly softens up to the usual stratospheric levels of ATHEIST comfort.

DER SCHWARZE SCHUH is...

- fully lined with supple, creamy-smooth calfskin from the Netherlands

- handmade in Portugal, with heaps of care, by a family of artisinal shoemakers

- crafted with German leather, from a 130 year old family-run tannery, renowned for their high standards where the environment, animal welfare and employee working conditions are concerned

- bottomed with a dense rubber sole that is both flexible and durable, and embossed with our ICH BIN ATHEIST motif

- very black.

green measuring tape - Atheist Shoes

Begin by finding out the length of your foot in cm (see the graphic below on how to do that), then calculate your European size, according to this formula:

SIZE = 1.5 X (FOOT LENGTH IN CM + 1.5)

That means, if your foot length is 28.5cm, you should add 1.5, to give you 30. Then multiply 30 by 1.5, to give you a European Shoe Size of 45 (assuming you don't have a very wide foot, in which case you might want to consider going up one size to 46).

For a more detailed breakdown, see our size guide page. Or email us (hello@atheistberlin.com) with any sizing questions you might have.
