ATHEIST BLOG
“Utterly Brilliant” – FAST COMPANY DESIGN chooses ATHEIST as one of their products of the year, 2012
And not because of the Atheist branding, but because of the integrity and aesthetics of the design. We put so much effort into creating the perfect shoe, sticking as closely as we could to principles of Bauhaus design and trying to bring back a minimalist aesthetic that has been missing from shoe design in recent years. And we couldn't be happier with the result - a shoe that feels elegant yet casual, simple yet attention-grabbing, incredibly comfortable but with only a minimum of materials... and classic, as if of the 1930s, whilst at the same time feeling new, different and somehow a step forward.
Thank you to everyone at Fast Company Design!
Really chuffed with feature in Co.DESIGN (Fast Company)!
Goodness, we really must blog more! We've got so much news and we've shared most of it over on our Facebook page.
Well, we promise we'll blog the mother of all updates very soon.
But, in the mean time, here's a wonderfully well-written and flattering article that was published last week in Co-DESIGN. We're really humbled to be taken seriously by such an esteemed design publication. And we're still waiting for an email telling us that we've been rumbled and the gods of design have cast us back into the grubby anonymity of the Berlin coffee shop where we do most of our work .)
Anyhow, do have a read... while it's still there!
Caring for your Atheist Shoes (or ‘How to maintain the appropriate level of grubbiness’.)
Some of you have asked whether we have any tips on how to look after Atheist shoes. Well, we do have a few tips that may help prolong their life and keep them looking good for longer...
...but, before we dive into them, it's worth saying that we, ourselves, are still on a massive learning curve where the shoes are concerned, as the first atheist prototypes have only existed for a few months... and we’re increasing our knowledge all the time. So, if you happen upon any curious insights on how best to look after them (perhaps something miraculous happens when you talk to them or stick them in the freezer?) or if you have any personal experiences that might be worth sharing, please do let us know, so that we can pass on that info to everyone else, as well as improving the shoes in later batches. We’re all ears (or eyes) at hello@atheistberlin.com. And you can leave comments on this post as well.
Hello atheistberlin.com!
Boy, does it feel good to finally launch our website! We've been waiting AGES for this... and I know some of you have as well. So this is a joyous day indeed :)
We're really grateful for your über-patience over the last 2 or 3 months... sorry it took us so long. But we hope you like the site... it's certainly been fun to build. It's probably a bit slow, and we'll try to do something about that in the next few days. But, right now, I can't tell you how good it feels to finally have a place where you can come to look at our shoes and maybe even buy them!
Here's to atheistberlin.com and all who sail in her!
