Das Cognac Boot

This boot is perfect for those gorgeously mixed-up, neither-nor seasons; Autumn & Spring. A little heavier than its fellow "DAS BOOTs" and a gorgeous, autumnal hue, that is somewhere between a good cognac, and a 12-year-old single potstill Irish whiskey, poured nervously from an inherited hip flask, as you sit above the Cliffs of Moher, about to propose to your lover.
It's a full-grain*, generously waxed “pull up" leather, so called because, when pulled or heated, the oils and waxes cause the colour to migrate and become lighter in certain areas. This video illustrates nicely.
Using a pull-up leather means that little marks and scratches will appear on the shoe as you wear it, creating a beautiful and unique patina. But what’s doubly gorgeous is that simply massaging the leather will cause the marks to fade away and the original appearance of the leather to be restored.
DAS COGNAC BOOT has the same lusciously soft calfskin lining as our other shoes, so is super comfy, and has the same, natural rubber, ICH BIN ATHEIST sole on the bottom, which will last for years and won’t need replacing.
*Full grain leather is the highest quality there is, made from the topmost layer of the hide, and including all of the natural grain. Its fibres are strong and durable, but nonetheless breathable. And the surface is varied and unique, with a variety of the natural imperfections and marks that tell the story of the cow’s life. As it ages, it burnishes and beautifies, developing a gorgeous patina and unique appearance that in turn tells the story of how the shoes have lived. This leather only becomes more beautiful and more comfortable with wear.
