If you've ever wished we had a black shoe that wasn't quite fully black, but more "nearly black"... but not quite... perhaps charcoal... or anthracite... or (drumroll)... asphalt... then you're not alone.

More than a few customers have wished that wish. And so we asked our tannery partner in Portugal to make us a nubuck as soft and supple as our beloved kitten grey, but a little less black than black. Like 97% black, but 3% something else. 

It's that unfathomable 3% that makes Das Asphalt Shoe itself. There's an unassuming, matches-anything quality about its not-quite-black-but-not-at-all-grey-ness. 

Handmade in Portugal from bio-tanned nubuck, fully calfskin-lined for exceptional comfort, and with our long-lasting but flexible rubber sole, these shoes are the equal in comfort to anything we have ever made.

And that means they are very very VERY very comfortable indeed.
