We've given a great, big hug to our Goodyear welted boot design.

The result is A Softly Serious Boot, which you can pre-order now for September delivery.

A Softly Serious has the same lofty stature as our previous Seriouses, but is more comfortable from the off, thanks to a super light Vibram Morflex sole and a flexible 3mm leather midsole (whereas the original Serious has 4.5mm).

It means no breaking-in required and an almost sneaker-like cloudy bounce, despite the very proper and un-sneaker-like Goodyear welt, which is probably THE highest quality construction technique in shoemaking, allowing for a secure bond between sole and upper and ease of sole replacement when it eventually wears down (and replacing this Morflex sole is quite a familiar practice to any good cobbler, not least because Red Wings have worked with the same sole for years).

The leather is a soft, gorgeous German nubuck, from the Heinen tannery; robust despite its velvety finish and something we're defnitley going to use more of in shoes to come.

To launch, we're offering just one colour of leather - this ash brown - and with a choice of tan welt, or black welt (we don't yet have a photo of the black welt, but you can check out the black and tan welts in our other Serious boots, here). The soft EVA outsole comes only in black.

green measuring tape - Atheist Shoes

Begin by finding out the length of your foot in cm (see the graphic below on how to do that), then calculate your European size, according to this formula:

SIZE = 1.5 X (FOOT LENGTH IN CM + 1.5)

That means, if your foot length is 28.5cm, you should add 1.5, to give you 30. Then multiply 30 by 1.5, to give you a European Shoe Size of 45 (assuming you don't have a very wide foot, in which case you might want to consider going up one size to 46).
